I had a monthly subscription to small cookbooks using mostly PillsburyTM products. One book was all about breakfasts. We tried this recipe and have loved it. I use a variety of juices and have substituted yogurt for the sour cream. We make it for breakfast, dinner side or dessert.
The picture with the recipe is made with pineapple juice, so the sour cream stays white. Here is a fun option – use maraschino cherry juice for pink. Maybe for Valentine’s Day?
Heavenly Bananas is one of those wonderfully simple recipes that you can put together in just a few minutes. Sliced bananas are coated in a lightly sweetened sour cream mixture with a touch of citrus, vanilla, and optional orange zest. We especially love adding the vanilla—it gives this simple dish an extra bit of flavor.
Top the bananas with granola and whatever fresh fruit you have available for a little extra color, texture, and sweetness. It makes a refreshing snack, a light dessert, or an easy addition to breakfast or brunch.
The recipe is also wonderfully adaptable. Make a single serving for yourself or multiply the ingredients to serve a crowd. It’s quick, easy, and a great way to turn a few simple ingredients into something surprisingly delicious.
