Sticky Blueberry Wings

Sticky Blueberry Wings offer a delicious mix of sweet, savory, fruity, and spicy flavors. Blueberry preserves create a rich, sticky glaze, while soy sauce, fresh garlic, ginger, and jalapeños add savory depth and a little heat. Fresh blueberries provide bursts of fruity flavor, and sliced jalapeños give the finished wings a colorful presentation.

These wings are a fun addition to a game-day spread or a gathering where you want to serve something a little different. Prepare the wings using our Basic Chicken Wings recipe, then coat them with the blueberry sauce and finish them under the broiler until the glaze is bubbly and lightly caramelized.

Sweet blueberry preserves, savory soy sauce, fresh ginger and garlic, and spicy jalapeños come together in a sticky glaze for these distinctive chicken wings. Finish under the broiler and garnish with fresh blueberries and sliced jalapeños.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup blueberry preserves
  • 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 2 jalapeños minced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

For the Wings and Garnish

  • 2½ pounds chicken wings prepared using the Basic Chicken Wings recipe
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ⅓ cup fresh blueberries for garnish
  • 1 jalapeño thinly sliced, for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the chicken wings using the Basic Chicken Wings recipe and your preferred cooking method. Season with the garlic salt and black pepper before cooking, if they are not already seasoned.
  • While the wings cook, combine the blueberry preserves, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, minced jalapeños, and 1 cup of fresh blueberries in a small saucepan.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over low heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15 minutes, until the blueberries soften and the sauce reduces and thickens slightly.
  • When the wings are cooked through, toss them with the blueberry sauce until evenly coated.
  • Arrange the coated wings on a rack over a foil-lined baking sheet. Broil for about 4 minutes, watching closely, until the glaze is bubbly and begins to caramelize. Avoid letting the sugary sauce burn.
  • Transfer the wings to a serving platter. Garnish with the remaining ⅓ cup fresh blueberries and the thinly sliced jalapeño.
  • Serve immediately.
