These easy No Peek Bisquick Dumplings are a quick way to turn a pot of stew, soup, or smothered chicken into a hearty meal. Made with just two ingredients—Bisquick baking mix and milk—the soft dumplings are dropped directly onto the simmering dish and cooked covered until light and tender.
The secret is in the name: no peeking! Keep the lid on for the entire cooking time so the steam can work its magic and the dumplings cook properly.
We also use these dumplings on top of sauerkraut for our good-luck dinner. They are an easy, comforting addition to so many meals.
No Peek Bisquick Dumplings
Equipment
- 1 Wok
Ingredients
- 2 cups Bisquick baking mix Check the expiration date, newer works better
- ⅔ cup milk
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the Bisquick baking mix and milk. Stir just until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix.
- Bring your stew, soup, sauerkraut, or other dish to a simmer. Drop the dumpling dough by spoonfuls onto the surface of the simmering liquid.
- Reduce the heat to medium and cover tightly with a lid. A wok is preferred because its wide surface area provides plenty of room for the dumplings and heats evenly.
- Cook for 11 minutes without removing the lid. If possible, use a glass lid so you can check the dumplings without letting the steam escape.
- Remove the lid after 11 minutes and serve immediately.
