Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 cup water or chicken broth
- ¼ cup Cream or Half-and-half or milk
- 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- to taste salt
- to taste pepper
- ½ cheddar cheese shredded or Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup small ring pasta Anellini or Ditalini
Instructions
Saute’ and combine:
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the tomato paste, spices, and salt. cook for 1 – 2 minutes, stirring frequently until fragrant.1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon tomato paste, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon onion powder, ¼ teaspoon paprika, to taste salt, to taste pepper, 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
Add liquid and pasta:
- Pour in the tomato sauce and water/broth. Bring the mixture to simmer, then stir in the dry, uncooked pasta.8 oz tomato sauce, 1 cup water
Simmer:
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the pasta is tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
Finish:
- Stir in the ¼ cup Cream /milk and the ½ cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
Tip:
- Adding precooked mini meatballs or sliced hot dogs will create a more filling meal.
Serve:
- Serve Hot immediately.
