A sweet, savory, tropical Huli Huli sauce made with pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, fresh ginger, and garlic. Use it as a finishing sauce for cooked chicken wings to avoid the sugar burning during cooking.
1fresh pineapplepeeled and cut into approximately ½-inch slices
Instructions
Prepare the chicken wings using the Basic Chicken Wings recipe and your preferred cooking method.
While the wings are cooking, combine the pineapple juice, chicken broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, ginger, garlic, and kosher salt in a bowl. Mix well.
Once the wings are fully cooked, transfer them to a large bowl.
Pour the Huli Huli sauce over the hot wings and toss until evenly coated.
Serve immediately with fresh pineapple slices.
Notes
This sauce was originally used as a marinade. However, the sugar can cause the sauce to burn during cooking, so it works better as a finishing sauce for cooked chicken wings. If using a sheet pan to cook the wings, turn the pieces over about halfway through cooking.
