Oriental Brown Sauce

This our go-to sauce when we want an oriental flavor to our dish. It is not our only one (look up Mei Fun, Mongolian Beef Noodles or General Tso’s Chicken or another other recipes in the Oriental Cuisine), but we do like it.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup beef broth
  • 1 ¼ tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon sugar a little more sugar if adding the optional items
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • to taste ginger Optional
  • to taste garlic Optional
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil Optional

Instructions

  • In a sauce pan, add all the ingredients. Mix evenly and make sure there are no lumps of cornstarch.
  • Bing the mixture to a boil while stirring. Simmer until the sauce reaches your desired thickness.

Notes

To make it spicy, Add Chile sauce or Chile oil, or add 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger.
